The "Meeting"

The meeting the other night with the builders went okay. I started off by telling them I don't want to make them mad, but if it was there house they would address these issues to and we want them fixed. And that we want to keep a good working relationship and the last thing we want to do it make our builders mad. They both said they weren't mad, so we started in. We went over each issue and they told us how they would address/fix each thing. So we will be checking to make sure that happens. So all in all it went okay I guess. As long as they do what they said they would.
They were to move back our 2nd floor steps today (for the 2nd time) and insulation is coming, then drywall of course. By the end of the week they are to be filling the garage with shale and pouring the concrete in the garage and porch. So Monday the porch can start going up and by the weekend we should be able to finish the roofing altogether. We decided to let them do the siding and trim work. It was expensive, but worth it. So that will be getting underway. So it should start taking shape.
We had a problem last Saturday. We got over 4 inches of rain in about 24 hours and water poured over our electrical panel box!!! Ahhhh!!!! So Dad S. and David worked to try to figure out where it was coming it at and tried to stop the water. So, David had to take it all apart and have been blowing fans over everything hoping we get rid of all the water. So hopefully it didn't mess anything up getting wet like that.
So that's where we're at! We'll keep ya posted!!!!

Update: Beyond frustrated

Well I have off today. I got another email back from the contractor, and he set up a meeting for Monday at 5:00pm. So we'll see how far we get with it. I think they are just going to try to tell us what we want to hear, but they are not going to get away with that. From now on it's our way or the highway! It's not their money their wasting, it's ours!! Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes!

Beyond frustrated

Just a quick update. Lately things seem to be going awry. There are problems at the house, and the builders don't seem to care. We are beyond frustrated and disgusted. We have tried to be nice and patient, but they are just taking advantage of us. I just emailed one of the builders and released all our thoughts, and the email I got back seems like he could really care less. We are at the end of our rope. No more mister nice guy!! They have pushed us to our limit. Pretty soon I think we'll have to contact our lawyer. So many loose ends, and problems and no one has worked there since the middle of last week!!! With the exception of Monday one guy showed up to 45 degree the garage door openings. But that's it!!! At this rate this is going to be the longest next few months yet. Especially because of the things that are mounting. So keep prayin' for the strength to keep going and the knowledge to know what to do from here! Grrrrr......

Pulling home runs

They spread liquid manure this evening in the fields across the street.
2nd floor steps.
And again.
David working hard!
Pulling "home runs" to the panel box.
The sliding glass door in the basement.
We even have a view from the basement door!!
Basement steps. We'll probably make a closet underneath it.
These are the double swing out doors for the back of the garage.
Everynight is so pretty out!
From dining room view.
Just another outside shot.
Well, David has been working on electrical all week except Thursday. He took a much needed night off. Tonight, since Dad S. was away, I was David's helper. We got ALOT done tonight! My Mom came over to do some cleaning up, but it was already done so she didn't have much to do except watch, until we made some messes with drilling! She went around with her broom and dustpan sweeping up the mess!! I also made supper and brought over. We drilled holes and David showed me how to tape the wires together to pull them up through. I was stationed in the basement at the panel box feeding it up to him and then cutting it off and marking what it was for. He calls this pulling "home runs." We got 10 pulled tonight. We worked until it was dark.
The neighbors that are also building beside us were over tonight, so we went over. David already had met the guy before, but I never did. Their names are Bill & Lila Nelson. They are probably in their 50's. Very nice people!!! YEAH!! Their son was with them, his name was Brian. He's 28 and graduated from Warrior Run in 1999 the same year as me. He won't be living there, but I thought that was nice. Maybe we can get to know him to. Our friends may know him. They went to school there and graduated in '99 to. We'll see. Small world! I'm glad they are our neighbors!!!
They also were spreading liquid manure tonight. All the fields around were being done. Oh my! It is a horrible stench! I asked David this is going to take some getting used to!! It's quite strong, and even as I sit here now I can smell it on our clothes!! It's like we rolled around in a barn!! It seems to seep into your skin! Yuck! When we move, I sure won't be hanging clothes out on days they spread!!
Tomorrow will bring finishing the electrical work. This next week they have so much to do! Moving the steps back, back filling, electrical inspection, insulation, start drywalling, start porch, start stone work, etc... The list goes on and on! David will soon be starting the siding also. I think I better start packing soon, before it gets ahead of me! If I put it off to long we'll be ready to move and we won't be packed yet! Toodles for now!!

Welcome Deonna!

Mommy and Deonna in the NICU.
She's so tiny.
I love this picture! How cute!
She was stretching alot!
Looks like she's trying to smile!
Tiny little diapers!
I got a call today that Melody Hubble had her baby Friday, September 12,2008. Her name is Deonna Irene and she was 3 lbs. 15 inches long. She had been having some problems and had been in the hospital for week before she delivered her. She wasn't due until November. Deonna was approx. 26 weeks along. She is doing well though. She has already gained 4 oz.!! She had some jaundice so that's why the light box is on her. Once that goes down they will put her in an incubator. We had to scrub up with special soap scrubber and had to put on scrubs. It was very weird at first. It felt surreal. I have never been anywhere like that before! There are approx. 40 babies in the NICU right now! Unbelievable! I'm sure it's hard to leave her behind there, but she's should be fine!! Congrats Mel!! We'll be praying for her and you and the rest of the family during this trying time. :)

More work done!!

My command post. HA!!
Another hot roofin day!

Uncle Dave helping us out!
Dad S. fixing the windows!
Job completed.
Mom S. getting a ride in the bucket!
Dad S. also getting a ride! Well started.
Close to the house.
Started pulling wire.
David drilling holes for the wires.
Dad S. and David putting up more lumber.

More work has been done since Saturday. Uncle Dave came on Monday and helped us with the front of the house roof. He's fast! Before we knew it he was done! David kept him supplied with shingles and he nailed. He definitely knows what he's doing! We really appreciated him helping us!!!! Dad S. fixed the windows in the garage, as you can see they were way to high. He moved them down to line up with the top of the garage doors. Mom S. and I made them lunch and we ate at the "command post" under the shade. It's the only shade there is! The big tree is actually on the other property. It was pretty nice there, although I ended up with another sunburn on top of the one I got Saturday!
David and Dad S. finished the ridge vents yesterday on the house roof. They also started the wiring. The well driller also started yesterday. David just called and said they are done. They went 160 ft. deep and got 9 gallons per minute. Which I didn't think was very good, but I have no idea. He said that the pump can only pump 5 gallons per minute anyway, but I still don't think that's very good. Anyone know if that's good or not?? So, that's where we're at as of tonight!
Yesterday I had to make a bunch of mac and cheese for a work picnic for a guy named , Chris that's in the Army that's soon headed for Iraq. He made a little speech and he got a little choked up, the one of the owners of the company came out and spoke. He really had a great little speech. Very sad, and a tearjerker. His wife was there and you could tell she was about to cry. Her chin was quivering. It's just so awesome and sad all at the same time. Awesome that he's willing to go, and sad of the thought of leaving his wife and family, and work behind. Like the owner had told us, because of the kind of work we do, they were willing to write a letter saying that he needed to stay, and he could have got out of it, but he didn't want that, he wants to go serve with his brothers. He also emphasised how important our job is for people like Chris, that use the things that the circuit boards go in, and rely on them to work to keep them safe! It's so true!! It was really nice, and sad!! His last day is Friday. He'll be gone until NEXT October!! He says he'll stop in when he comes home briefly for Christmas. But that's quite a sacrifice. That's a very long time away!! God Bless our Military!!! SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!
