3 Sick Pups

Well, this week's happening's were quite blah. Besides the fact that my sister had her baby. All 3 of us have been sick pretty much all week. I stayed home Tuesday with Kaylynn because she was still sick and I was starting. She had a rough couple of nights of sleep too. Then, Wednesday David and I both stayed home because I felt worse, plus felt dizzy and sick to my stomach. So, he stayed home to help with Kaylynn. As Friday came, Kaylynn was feeling much better, and David and I both worse. All 3 of us still have colds, so no seeing Julian for us! :(

I have put a couple things on in the past about some financial issues we are/were having. And we have been looking at things and praying for help and for help to change our ways. It is just beginning, but I see his work everywhere!! We have started the refinancing process. If we appraise at a certain amount, we could lower our mortgage payment by approx $428 a month! David wasn't supposed to get a raise, but found out Fri he got a .70 raise! I had asked him a few weeks ago if there were any electrical side jobs to do anywhere...nope. (He's done some in the past that paid pretty good) Well, came home yesterday and said he was working a side job for a few hours this morning and he said there will be more to do!! He is helping us!! Thank you Lord for your continued support!! Praying it all works out for the appraisal, because that would be huge for us! (Of course refinancing has pros and cons, but unfortunately we need a lower monthly pmt at this time) :(

So we spent some of today trying to get little finish up things we never got done after we built the house done. Any little thing should help right? I met with the loan lady yesterday at our bank and she gave me some tips also which should help. :)

Also, things are not so good at my work. They told us group leaders the other day that for the 1st time in 20 years they barely made enough money to cover labor costs for January. That's why no OT. And they are cutting the temps, the part time people, the non productive people, etc... It's really not looking so good. Of course in my dept I NEED more people! Duh! But with all that's going on that just means they will move everybody and their brother to my dept that has no clue what their doing which means I'll be training people everyday. It is very frustrating. The owner also told us at this rate our profit sharing checks we get every quarter (which is usually at least $1000 before taxes...at LEAST) will probably be about $60!! So we'll see what the future holds. Alot of people are fed up and ready to leave. Of course this is a rumor but, people at work say the guy running the place ran a business in NY and it went bankrupt....Hmmmm...food for thought...

He's a good baby since they brought him home. Sleeps all the time. Only cries when he poops and is hungry. Pees on them constantly. Hee, hee. But even the first night home he only got up at 1am and 4am to eat. Other than that she has to wake him up to eat! Can't beat that!

Well, after 38 hours of agonizing back labor, 2 epidurals and been in the hospital since Monday at 7am, my nephew FINALLY was born last night 2/7/12 at 9:18pm 9lbs 6 oz 21''. Everyone is doing ok and I am sure she's glad the labor part is over. She will be in the hospital until tomorrow. And tomorrow is her birthday! :)

I won't be able to run right over and see him. Kaylynn has been sick since Sat and we've been home with her the past 2 days plus now I'm sick. She went to the Doc and they put her back on amoxicillin.

My sister Tonya will be induced tomorrow if they have a bed available. She is 40 weeks but is measuring 2 weeks ahead so that would make her 42 weeks! They told her about 2 weeks ago the estimated weight at 9lbs! Yikes! He is going to be a big boy! Her boyfriend Jesse was the smallest of his siblings weighing in over 9lbs. His brothers were 12 lb'ers! Praying for easy and fast labor and delivery. And a easy transition to parenthood. Good Luck Tonya! We're here for you!

Kaylynn got her 6 month shots tonight, but you'd never know it. (yet) She was bouncing in her jumperoo. She is just really getting on to jumping in it. She really goes to town! So adorable!!

Latest Happenings

Don't get to excited. There is not that much to report. LOL. Kaylynn is doing alot of new things the past few days. Funny to see the wheels turning. She says Da, da, da. Can really get around in the excersaucer. Before she would stretch to reach her toys, now she can turn the seat around. Holds her mouth wide open and hollers but it is hilarious. And is really taking to a small little blankie held up to her face while she sucks her thumb. I also think she'll be walking before crawling. She likes to be standing on the floor all the time.

We did get a decent amount of snow last Sat., although I got pics on my phone and not my camera. I think we got about 4 to 5''. Really the first snow we've had. Glad for that. Also glad that it came down on a Sat I didn't have to work! ;)

Just trying to keep plugging along. The only thing that ever is new usually is what new thing Kaylynn has learned.

Trying This Again....

Well, after buying a new laptop last Sat. as of Friday night it would not turn on. Great. So, after fiddling with it for awhile we decided it was in need of a geek. Geek Squad from Best Buy that is. Well, took it in and you guessed it. Needed to be exchanged. BUT, they didn't have anymore in stock AND they are discontinuing HP so I needed to go find another computer. Boo. I really like that one. So, now we have a DELL. Let's hope this one lasts.

Is This My New Path?

I've been praying and asking the Lord to help open up some new job opportunities. A new path to follow. And not a couple days after praying about it, I heard an advertisement on the radio for something I thought I would like to do and they were offering 2 seminars. 1 that night in Williamsport and 1 the next night in Lewisburg. So, I talked about it with David. Prayed more about it today and after the horrible day I had at work I decided it's a free seminar, what do I have to lose?? So my friend Erin and I went. It was pretty packed, but it was an hour long thing and very informative. It's for medical transcripts and editing. You work from home and it's part time or full time, you set your own hours! You can make very decent money too. But, right now financially things are very tough, so we are going to have to continue to buckle down and ask the Lord for his help. And also to see if this is something he wants me to pursue.

Because it does cost money to do the courses required to do the job. It is an accredited school and you get a diploma at the end. It takes approx 5 months to complete (if your dedicated to it) And there is money back guarantees. If you want to stop or you don't like it you can stop and get it back to them within 7 days and you get a refund, no questions asked. Also, they guarantee if you don't get job within 6 months they give you a full refund on your money. Pretty good if you ask me. I currently know someone that does this part time and just loves it. I know another person that is going through the courses right now. Hmmmm....What to do Lord??

She is doing so many new things!! She is eating all sorts of new foods. Hasn't really had one she doesn't like yet! She loves them all! She finally cut 2 bottom front teeth and cutting more. She has had ear infections 2 times due to her teething. She currently has a double ear infection right now and on an antibiotic for it. She gets up on her knees and hands and rocks. It won't be long til she's crawling. She laughs and giggles. She does this screech owl thing too. It's a high pitch squeal/screech laugh thing. It's funny. Just coming right along!

She was 6 months old on Dad's birthday on the 12th. They pushed her shots back a week due to being on the antibiotic. They cut all my overtime right now at work. Good, but not good. We are still very busy in my dept. but mgmt feels they are not getting enough return on their money with all the OT being worked. So, it's nice in one way because I'm not so tired and feel like a normal human being for once. Not to mention you can actually make plans for the weekend!! BUT, when I am used to making so much more money working OT now back to 40 hours is a huge difference!! And we are about to be taking on some more expenses. I'm not trying to complain, just worried about it. I keep praying that the Lord help us and direct us in our spending/savings differently. We need a change! We just upgraded our stupid cell phones and they require the Internet which we don't need, especially when I have Internet at home! So, that bill will be going up. We are buying his Mom's Blazer off his Dad, another expense for 4 years. David's car is about to go kaput and the garage has it now to look over and possibly buy. (Hope they do!!) It just keeps getting ahead of us and I am very scared about it. David left a message with our bank about trying to see about refinancing again. PRAYING it all works out. If you think of it, could you slip in a prayer about it for us? Thanks. So, that's out lives in a nutshell right now!

This was Kaylynn's 1st Christmas. She seemed less than interested, but nonetheless we opened gifts anyway. :) She got alot of clothes, books and toys of course. I made dinner for my family. It didn't go as smoothly this year. We tried to open our gifts with the immediate family first, then do dinner. Well, that doesn't work to well. Kaylynn was tired and over it and was past her naptime. I needed to be getting out to work on the food. And the other family showed up early for once. I just felt overwhelmed with it all. We need a new plan for next year for sure! But it wasn't to bad. Ended up with 20 people I think. And for some reason the wron date is on alot of these pics. They were from 12/25, not 12/24. Hmmm...

I think David's Dad needs to make her a nice BIG oak toybox for her 1st birthday! Hint, hint!! ;) Here are a ton of photos. I had to do it in 2 posts!

Today is Christmas Eve. Since we didn't have any plans, and niether did my parents we had them over. I decided to try my hand at making stromboli. Turned out awesome! They didn't look pretty, but they'll get better with more times I make them. Mom had Kaylynn open a present. Her first one ever! She sort of helped. :) It was a butterfly doll! :) All in all got alot of cleaning done today, then relaxed with my parents and David and Kaylynn. Ahhhh....memories. I think this may have to be a tradition. Mom and Dad (and my siblings if they can) come over Christmas Eve and hang out and eat stromboli!! :)

Merry Christmas to everyone!! It doesn't seem like Christmas this year. Especially without Mom here. I wonder what kind of birthday celebration is going on in Heaven? :) I bet she is having quite a party there. We miss her terribly. Every milestone Kaylynn hits or does I think...Mom is missing this. Missing her. Missing her growing up. :(

Well, I'll try not to be a downer and all sappy and stuff. :) Lots of things going on. Dad is in Florida celebrating Christmas with Jay and his family, and Jenn and her family. I am hosting my family Christmas dinner tomorrow. Approx 25-30 people. We go back to work on Tuesday, and I am NOT looking forward to it. They put us on mandatory 12 hour days!! I can barely function on 10 hour days!! It better not last long. I won't be able to keep on those kinds of hours!! It'll kill me!!

Kaylynn FINALLY cut her first tooth this week. Her bottom front. The one right next to it in the front is pushing through too. So she'll have her 2 bottom front teeth first. :) She'll soon be sitting up on her own. The sitter has been putting her in a walker and she can move it already!! Dad was sort of joking with her last week at the dinner table and put his cup up to her mouth...well, both hands went on it. Mouth on it, opened her mouth, he tipped it up and she got 3 big swigs of iced tea. I couldn't believe she even knew what to do!! She's only 5 1/2 months old! Also probably the reason she only took an hour nap with all that sugar in her! :P

Hello There

Just a few tidbits to add to your day. Kaylynn started eating fruits along with her cereal last couple of weeks. So far she's had applesauce, pears, bananas, and peaches. This week we will start veggies. I had her to the Doctor again this week because she is yet again sick and back on amoxcillian. But anywho, she suggested veggies really to be first because if you give them fruit first, then they don't want the veggies. So we shall try the veggies. She is getting so big. She is really discovering her feet now. I try to bring them up to her mouth and she chews her chubby little toes. :) She is also getting alot more hair. Soon I'll be able to start putting her hairbows in her hair!!! I think she will be sitting up on her own soon too. But, she is getting big and fast!

Dad watched her at our house Thursday night while we went to David's work Christmas party. I know Jenn told me Dad was pleased as punch that we asked him to watch her. I was worried, but she was good. Thank goodness! (And she dirtied a diaper just for her Grandpa) Hee, hee! He said he can't remember ever changing a dirty diaper, not sure he ever did with his own kids. LOL!!! He put her to bed and she slept all night. They got to spend Pappy/grandaughter time. He wants to pack her in his suitcase when he goes to Florida on Monday. Sorry Charlie. Not gonna happen. :)

I attemped to take some Christmas pictures of Kaylynn under the tree. I will post those soon. I still have to go get my Christmas card pictures printed out so I can send them!! Plus I still have a few things to buy yet!! Plus I have to wrap!! Plus who knows what else!! This mandatory OT is doing me in!

Christmas Is In The Air.....

Here are a few tid bits from the past week. We went and got our Christmas tree while Marianne, Philip and the boys were in on Black Friday. We got that up and got the Christmas decorations out. I have got a couple gifts bought, but that's about it. I intended on going to try to get it done last night after he put her to bed, but I was so exhausted I just couldn't do it. This whole week I have been incredibly tired. Been working mandatory 10 hour days plus Sat's. I will probably be on that schedule from now until who knows when.

Before Thanksgiving, they moved me after 11 years to another dept. to take it over and "run" it. I DID NOT want to do it, they forced me and I had no choice in the matter. After being back there for a week and a half it's getting better. I went from 20+ people, to 5. So although that area brings it's own issues (It's an automated conformal coating spray machine) the machine is worthless to say the least, but anyway, it seems less stressful in a way. They keep telling me they are glad I'm back there and I'm doing a good job. And within the next year it is supposed to really take off and I'll probably have more people back there than I did up front. 1st order of business is trying to start training from scratch the people that I have. They have had no leadership and very questionable training. They are wanting to learn, so that's good. The hours are what are getting old. And it always seems to get the busiest around this time of the year! Grr.. :)

Kaylynn is on amoxicillin for her cold/congestion. I think it has helped her alot. Plus she loves it. She is really changing. In the last week or so she plays in her exersaucer for long periods of time. She's getting on a really good napping schedule. And the babysitter feeds her cereal twice a day, plus we bumped her up to 7oz. in her bottle. She laughs and smiles. Chews everything!! I can still see a little white dot on her bottom gums, but it hasn't worked through yet. She bumped up a diaper size. :( Also she can wear some 3-6 month stuff, but mostly in 6-9 month stuff now. Her hair is growing like crazy. Now she keeps getting bed head and even if you wet it and brush it down, it won't stay!! So she goes all day with horns!! :) She will be 5 months old on Dec. 12th. She's getting so big!!

We got together with our friends Eli and April and their 3 year old daughter, Becca yesterday. David was working on some electrical work for them. Can't believe it's been a month yesterday since Mom went to Heaven. Still seems like something's missing. I'm sure it will always feel that way. When we were decorating our tree and moving that room around from an office to a soon to be playroom, I was setting pictures and knick nacks back on the tv stand and I ended up breaking a birdhouse candle holder that Mom had gotten for me a few years back for Christmas. I tried to let David let me spin it around to the part that made it look like it wasn't broken. He wouldn't let me. He told me to throw it away. I went to throw it in the garbage and I cried. I came back in the room crying and he said it was ok. I just kept saying, it was from your Mom and I really liked it and I felt really bad. He said he knew, but it was ok, to let it go. I felt awful. I didn't want to throw it away thinking that if I did, I wouldn't remember her....I guess little things like that remind me of her. But I know she left so much more behind for me than just a birdhouse knick nack.

Today I was thinking as I was making Sunday dinner for Dad and us, all those years she was sick and I could've done more to help her. I know she didn't always like to accept help, but why didn't I do more for her? All those years of meals and get togethers and I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I had them over for something. I was thinking well, I work full time and I have a new house to keep up, and I just had a baby, etc...and I thought stop it!! That is what you always do. Make excuses. Just DO IT!! So, I am hoping to work harder like she did, and just try to help who I can, when I can.

She taught me so much. I really want to go through her recipes and write some more off of her's especially for our Sunday dinners. I know Dad and David and everyone misses her terrible, but so do I. I feel like I kinda have to pick up where she left off. I don't know why I feel that way, but I do.

David has been trying to help look after Dad and check on him several times a week. He'll probably get sick of us. Hee, hee. I'll be glad when Winter is over and he can get outside and do more stuff. Plus by then Kaylynn should be boot scootin' around so we can be outside doing stuff too. If it ends up being ok with Dad, I'll probably go ahead and make up or get hanging baskets for the front porch at least, and maybe the planter between the garage doors. Oh how she loved her flowers. It'll sort of be like a memorial maybe for us to do that to remember how she just loved Summer and her flowers.

Thanksgiving 2011

I had thanksgiving dinner here today. My Mom and Dad did the turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie. I did mashed potatoes and gravy, candied sweet potatoes, corn, peas, macaroni and cheese, and bisquits. Tonya made 2 peanut butter pies. Jamie made peanut butter fingers. It was goooood! I think it went pretty good today, despite Kaylynn being fussy because she's sick yet again with a cold. Pretty congested in the chest this time. My poor baby!
Even with everything that's happened in the last 3 weeks or so that seems bad, I know I am still Thankful for alot of things in my life!!

These are the finished produce of the curtains that Aunt MaryLou made for Kaylynn's room. I had picked out and bought the fabric and she whipped these up for me!! They turned out great!

Plus it is kinda thicker material, so hopefully it keeps the cold out. Thanks Aunt MaryLou!!

Crash- Bang- Boom!

Last Thursday I had just gotten home from a VERY BAD day at work. David was over at his Dad's. I wasn't home but 5-10 mins when I heard this loud crashing sound, or some gunshots going off and it was coming from the garage! I called David to come home because I was scared. I said someone or something was in the garage! He then asked who all was over there. I said, just Kaylynn and I!!! He said, well there is a black car in our turnaround. I looked and there was NO ONE there!! So I called back and said ok, your really freaking me out, I looked and there is no one there! So he said, I am telling you someone is there I am LOOKING at the car right now! So, needless to say I was scared outta my wits! SO when he got home and I slowly opened the door into the garage he said, I found the car, well I instantly saw what happened.
The neighbor's colbalt's emergency brake doesn't work and it rolled dow the hill, over our fairly new-planted pine tree and into our garage!! And they had no idea either!! You could see them going about there business in their kitchen. David had to go knock on the door and tell them. So, I wasn't nuts!! It did quite a bit of damage. There is a huge hole in it too. We heard from her insurance, we are waiting to have someone come and appraise/ascess the damage. Thankful it wasn't the house, but still! UGH.

Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye to Mom was the hardest thing to do. It seems unbearable going on without her. Spending all this time with the family, it seems like something is missing. It doesn't seem right that Marianne, Jennifer and Tonya are in the kitchen cooking the family meals. And that she's not there to join in with us. I know David and I have a big responsibility to help Dad once everyone leaves. This will prove the hardest for him I'm sure as the house will be quiet. I see her hand in everything, so I know Dad does also. I know God will provide strength for him (and the rest of us) as we all try to find the new "normal" without her. We were all so close to her and she was there for all of us, to just not be able to even pick up the phone and call and talk to her doesn't seem right. The simplest things when your over at the house especially. Things you wouldn't even think of until you see it. Her coat laying on the back of the chair. Her purse laying in the office. The Fall decorations she had gotten out this season. Her cell number in my phone. The fact we always said going to "Mom and Dad's to just now, "Dad's." Just everything.

Aunt Miriam and Uncle Dave bought the grandkids and Dad books to help explain to them what has happened to Grandma. There were two different titles. Very nice of them to do and to help with telling the kids.

I know it will get easier, but the void will never be filled. The family being home is quickly coming to an end, and fast! I have knots in my stomach about them leaving. I don't want them to go back home. I wish they all lived here! :( We will do our best to help Dad. I feel bad he'll be alone. But, we work full time so we can't be there every minute. We have very big shoes to help fill. Hopefully having Kaylynn around (his favorite granddaughter) ;) will help to cheer him up. It will be the hardest thing he'll ever have to do is go on without her. It STILL doesn't seem real. Time will heal all wounds, but we will never forget her, EVER! We love and miss you Mom more and more everyday!!

Mom made her final journey home Thursday Nov. 3 around 3am. She is Home in Heaven, forever free from this world's pain and suffering. We covet your prayers over the next days for the viewing and funeral and also for the adjustment to life without Mom. Our hearts are hurting and yet at the same time rejoicing knowing that she is with the Lord!

No one knows how this woman I call "Mom" has impacted not only my life, but lots of others! She is a true example of a Christian woman. She has inspired me over the past 12 years that I have had the privilege to know her to be a better Christian, wife, cook, and now Mother. In ways I don't think ever she even realized.

All the suffering she has done in the last 15 years are now over. And all those years without a single complaint. Who does that? Mom, that's who!!

We are so grateful and thankful that the Lord kept her her to get to see and know her only grandaughter, Kaylynn. She was so excited that she had 7 grandsons and 1 grandaughter. And we live one house over so she got to see her pretty often. :) Although Kaylynn won't remember her, we will have lots of stories and pictures and memories to share with her about her Grandma Slagenweit. We are sad at the fact she won't be here for her 1st Thanksgiving, her 1st Christmas or her 1st Birthday and many other things she will miss. But we know she will be celebrating with us from above.

Mother of the Year recipent for 2011. I so enjoyed going the last 3 years or so to the Mother/Daughter banquet with her. I was really looking forward to this next years since it would have been Mom, Kaylynn and I. Very sad thinking she won't be there to share that. Glad they gave her the first ever award.

This was our last Christmas spent together. We knew things were going downhill, so this year I think it was even more special that we spent alot of family time together. We sang Christmas songs together, shared memories of Christmases past and so on. It was really nice that we were able to do that.

Mom, we love and miss you more than words can ever say. There will be a huge void in our lives because your not here. The thought of going on without you seems unbearable. We will miss so much, especially coming to your house every Sunday for dinner. We have done that for the past 12 years. To think we'll never eat your home cooking again or see you at least every Sunday seems wrong. To not be able to be here to see the grandkids grow up. But all the things we are sad about, we know that Heaven is rejoicing with your precence! You are no longer suffering. You are with all the people that have gone before you. You are with Jesus walking the streets of gold! Even when we were saying our goodbyes and how you were so excited to go to Heaven, you were still worried about us that you were leaving behind, because you said you knew it was going be hard for us. And it will be, but we have peace in the fact that we know you are now healed and with the Lord!! Please watch over all of us. We love you!!

And Thank you to each and every one of you that has been there with us through all of this. Your thoughts, prayers, and love have been so appreciated. The support the family has gotten has been overwhelming. There is no way to repay you for your kindness. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Sidewalks and Fall Decor

Well, well, well....after almost 3 years we have sidewalks finally! Yippee!! I am so happy!! Couldn't have asked for better weather that day either! The cement truck came at 7:20am. David's Dad, Kevin, his son Nicholas and David were all there to help. Can I just say they did a mighty fine job!! I really think it makes the house look more finished. Now he will have some more landscaping things to do, but all in due time. :) They also poured a ramp from our double swing out doors in the garage so he can drive the lawn mower in and out. Pretty nifty.

My Mom also had the idea (I would have never thought of this!) to put Kaylynn's hand and footprints in it! So, that's what we did. It should have been a little wetter when we did it because it was rather dry and setting up, but we got them! :) Also have had my Fall decor out on the porch. Picked up those steel tubs at the Watsontown yard sales 2 for $8!! And I finally found a old country looking bench this week for $18. I am glad I held out for it, it's exactly what I've been looking for, for the porch.

Here are a bunch of pictures of Miss Kaylynn. Hopefully I'll have time in the next couple of days to post pics of my Fall decor and the newly poured sidewalks!! Yep, that's right! I said we have sidewalks people!! :) I actually had Kaylynn to the Doctor today because for the last week or so she's been "off." So, just as I suspected. The acid reflux acting up again. So they up'd her dosage from 2ml to 4ml. Let me tell ya, 4ml is alot for a baby! You would have thought we were murdering her, but hopefully it helps her. He did give me a new script so I can have it flavored. And she weighed 13lbs 12oz!! She'll be 3 months old tomorrow!!

I posted these pics after I typed up my paragraphs but then it wouldn't let my copy and paste it so the words were first. Well, here are pics of the flooding we had here a few weeks ago. This is my brother's place.

We have had SO MUCH rain here in the last month. It flooded the worst in 100 years here a few weeks ago. Well, my brother and his girlfriend and daughter Brooke live RIGHT by Muncy Creek which always floods. It has got up to their back door a few times, but never has came in. Until this time. They ended up with 5 feet of water in their 1st floor. They can't get back in for at least another 3-4 months! Right now they are staying with her parents. I pray they can find a house soon so they don't have to move back in there! If anyone would like to see more images/stories of flooding here go to www.wnep.com and take a look. People lost alot here. Roads and bridges are washed away. People lost their homes. It was really bad! :( My Mom and brother and his family made their pictures in the paper twice.

I not only got a ton of clothes for Kaylynn at the Watsontown yard sales, but I also got 2 old galvanized steel tubs which I put my mums in right now and will plant flowers in them in the Spring. I also got 5 country-ish, primitive looking plates. And woopie pies from the Amish. They were 3 for $1!! Needless to say I bought $7 worth and they only lasted until the next day! ;)

On Monday David fell off an 8ft ladder at work. He ended up hurting himself and had to go to Evangelical Hospital to be checked out. He has bumps and bruises and he sprained his knee. Thankfully that was all!! It could have been alot worse!! But he had to be off work 3 days and was wearing a splint that went from his thigh to ankle. He is back to work now and he's doing better. He says it's sore, but hopefully it will continue to get better!

We ended up cancelling the cement truck since it is yet again RAINING!! It is rescheduled for next Sat at 7:30am! Hopefully I'll have them soon! Ta ta for now!

We are Still Here!

We are still here!! With working mandatory OT and trying to settle into a nightly routine with Kaylynn it makes for very fast nights! Things are going good. She had her 1st shots a couple weeks ago and didn't seem to bother her to much. She weighed 12lbs 11 oz 23 3/4'' long. Biggie girl! She has been doing very well at the babysitters during the day. She just loves watching the other kids. Since I've last posted she has rolled over in her crib twice now. She hasn't done it so we actually see it! And a few weeks ago she finally discovered her thumb! She sucks her thumb like crazy! She also chews her hand, but the thumb is her fav! We don't even really try to give her a binky anymore. She is still sleeping all night thankfully!! We give her a bath, bottle and put her to bed around 8:30 - 9:00pm and she sleeps until he gets her up during the week at 5am for a bottle, then at 6 off to the sitter's or on the weekends she will sleep straight through until 9am!!

She really coo's and laughs more and more! I love it! I have so many projects it isn't even funny! I bought stuff to make her own hair bow holder. From all the bows I bought from Gigi La' Bean. I bought material to make drapes for her room to try and help keep the cold out. I have all her clothes that don't fit anymore that need to be separated and put into totes. I have a ton of clothes from family and coworkers plus all the ones I got from the Watsontown yard sales to put away. We have pictures that need hung. And David is FINALLY going to pour our sidewalks and the ramp from out of the garage at the double swing out doors. Then I can take pictures of the Fall decorating I did on our front porch. I got these old galvanized steel square barrels at the yard sales too 2 for $8!! And I put my mums in them! I love decorating my porch and house for Fall!

I guess the only other thing I can think of is I turned the big 30 the 21st! Yikes! I am getting old. It kinda did bother me a little. David got me a card and he got my one from Kaylynn. It made me cry! It said "Mommy" on it. Felt weird getting a "Mom" card!! We didn't do anything special, just stayed home. Other than that not to much else to report I guess. Oh yea. After 11 weeks I am FINALLY getting my maternity leave money!!! And my sister Tonya found out she's having a BOY!!!!

Formula Woes

Kaylynn has always been a "fussy" baby. They say acid reflux and colic kinda go hand in hand somewhat. Although then Prilosec has helped with her feeding, something else is going on. She seems more fussy, seems to me like she always has a tummy ache - hence some of the crying also, and spitting up and throwing up alot. As I researched yesterday after she threw up probably her entire 4 oz bottle, seems to me she may be lactose intolerant. Her are some of the "symptoms" she has from the list : Fussy, gassy, spitting up/throwing up, eczema, rash on her face (which I thought was baby acne, but then it would turn very dry like the eczema) and very foul smelling dirty diapers. And the dirty diapers it was getting more and more watery and yellow (and seedy) and mucusy. Stringy like. SORRY FOR THE DESCRIPTION OF THE DIRTY DIAPERS!! And she had a dirty one this morning after 4 bottles of Similac it already looks more "normal", what it looked like for a long time.

My Gram and Jenn seemed to think (along with alot of people I questioned on FB said change the formula) we should switch formulas. Also a girl I know that works in the maternity ward at Williamsport Hospital said reflux and a milk allergy or something along those lines are totally different, sounded like we needed a formula change also. When I asked the Doctor 2 weeks ago he didn't think we needed to and we didn't want to change that AND start the medicine too. So, we waited. And after talking to my Gram and Jenn yesterday they convinced me to make the switch. Since we got free samples of different kinds in the mail we are switching to Similac Sensitive for fussiness an gas and lactose sensitivity. Jenn said it only has 20% of the lactose in it compared to other formula. When we mix it it is super foamy!! From what I've read online that is normal. It's so foamy you can barely see the markers to see what she ate! So, we started last night and so she's had about 4 bottles of it so far so we are PRAYING we were right and this will help her!!

Another thing I've noticed the past few nights including last night, is although she seems somewhat asleep she is moving, grunting, fussing, coughing and doesn't seem to be in a very deep sleep. She just started this. We put her down at around 9-10om and she goes through the night without feeding, so not sure why she is doing this. The coughing I think is the reflux because it sounds like she has like a wet burp, then she coughs. I told David we may need to raise the one end of her crib.

But anyhow, keep her in your prayers. I feel so bad for her. I never know if I am doing the right thing. I question everything. I especially feel guilty because I didn't check with her Doctor first. And I hope she doesn't get sick off of it or anything! :/ Thanks!

Here's a bunch more pictures of our little redhead! Who knows if it'll stay that way. She weighed 11lbs 7oz on Thursday. She's growing like a weed! She is sleeping better for us at night. Sleeps from about 9 or 10 pm to about 5am! And this is my last week home with her. On Sept. 6th I head back to work. I have mixed feelings about it. It'll be another adjustment period for me. But we gotta do what we gotta do! What will be tough is when I get back to working 10 hour days and Sat's. Through the week will be very tiring I'm sure. But, we'll figure it out! :)

Earthquake!!!!

Earthquake!! I felt it!! The entire east coast felt it! It was a 5.9 in Mineral, VA! I was sitting in the chair looking up cars on Blue Knob Auto and the chair was moving!! I put the laptop down and looked out the window to see if there was a big piece of heavy machinery across the street where they are doing construction (liquid manure pit, yea!) and nothing! So I sat still for a minute and thought maybe I was just dizzy, but then I hopped on Facebook and everyone was saying they felt it to and it was an earthquake!! Crazyness!!

6 Weeks Old

Miss Kaylynn is 6 weeks old today!! She is getting so big and long! Last week she weighed 11 lbs! She has been responding well to the Prilosec. Although she does NOT like the taste and cries, it helps her in the long run.
Last night we bathed her, gave her some more of her bottle (she would only eat 1 ounce since we gave her a bottle only about 2 hours before, we were trying to tank her up before bed) anywho...we put her in her crib at 9:15pm and she slept until 5am!!!! She did move and make noises and such that I had to go check on her, but all in all very good night!! We are going to try to do the same routine tonight and hopefully history repeats itself!!
We are using the Angelcare movement monitor. Although through the night I end up turning it off because she moves all over the place and I don't want to wake her up to put her back in the center of the crib where she has to be. So when I go in and see she is starting to creep away from it, I turn it off and use the regular monitor.

After next week I go back to work...not sure what to think about that yet.

Acid Relux....Ugh.

Kaylynn was diagnosed her first week with acid reflux. She was spitting up kinda bad when she would do it. So they said to sit her upright and burp more often. This seemed to really help...until this week. I wouldn't say she is spitting or throwing up more, but she has terrible tummy pain from it!! She started within drinking the 1st ounce of formula started to scream and cry, arch up her back and kick her little legs like crazy!! She also would not eat. You could tell she was hungry and wanted it, but it just was hurting her to badly. As this went on for 2 days I called the Doctor. He had me give her a bottle and within the 1st half ounce she did it! (thankfully, so he could see I wasn't nuts!) He immediately said "that's the reflux." So, he did do an xray of her belly, which turned out to be ok. He didn't think we need to change her formula. He said to burp her more, hold her off between feeding her each ounce. (yeah right!!) And we could do medicine, but it's not really approved for babies although they prescribe it for them. And the less medicine they take, the better. So, if we don't feel it's getting better, call and he'll give her the medicine. So, that was it!

When I came home I had talked with David and we had said if she continues to do that tonight into tomorrow, I'm calling for the prescription. Well, got home and when we tried to give her her next bottle, she did it. I just couldn't deal with it! My nerves are about shot!! So, I called and said "I WANT THAT PRESCRIPTION!!" So they said they would put it in as urgent to the Doc (she could clearly hear her screaming!) and they would call me back in 20 minutes. Well over an hour later they called and said he gave the script. They were closed but the nurse said they were there for another hour and she let me come get it! I ran it to CVS to be filled and we started giving it to her Wednesday night. It is liquid Prilosec. We HATE having to squirt it down her throat, but it does seemed to have helped!! Thankfully we only have to give it to her once a day!

So, also talked about changing her formula to something more sensitive. But, we are gonna give the medicine a chance to work, and to see if it does work before we change that too. If we would have changed both at the same time and it helped we wouldn't know WHAT helped, the Prilosec, or the formula. So, please pray that this stuff works!! We feel so bad that she is in pain when she eats!

~On a lighter note on Wednesday when she was there she weighs 11lbs even!!! Little chunky monkey! ;)

Formula Deals

On Facebook someone started something called Central Pa Moms sell and swap. Someone close by here had advertised 4 cans of Gerber good Start Gentle formula for $8 a can! So, I asked if she would take $30 for all 4 cans and she said yes! So, I met up with her at CVS and got them! Then my sister's friend is also selling 8 cans for $5 a can!! But....since she had a rough week with reflux I am reluctant to buy these. (Acid Relux coming in another post!) I told the girl we would like to giver her medicine a couple days to see if it works in case we also need to switch formulas! I don't wanna end up with all these cans and would have to turn around and me have to sell them! She is waiting on us to give her an answer. PLUS, I visited with Sheri Vincent yesterday and her daughter Shelby also gave me 2 cans! Needless to say we have found some real formula bargains!!

Angelcare Monitor

Well, after looking at this online for about a week and reading all the reviews, I finally purchased this monitor. We already have a regular monitor, but this hopefully will give me more peace of mind. I am a worry wart!! This monitor is SUPPOSED to detect movement, so if she would stop moving or basically, stop breathing for 20 seconds, it will sound an alarm. He got it all set up to go in her crib for tonight. SO, I'll have to let ya know how it goes! Very reluctant to put her in her own room. :(

She has been sleeping longer periods of time at night. Just seems to take awhile to get her down for the night. She fights it! Hope it keeps getting better that way! :)

Here are yet some more pictures of Kaylynn. Hopefully this gives the Aunts, Uncles and friends and other family that don't get to see her a chance to see her a little bit. We are still adjusting to having her here, but it's getting there. She does pretty good at night, MOST OF THE TIME. Some nights she just won't go to sleep and just keeps screaming, it's very hard on us. Especially for David since he is the one working right now. I know even though I am tired to, it'll only be worse those nights for me too when I go back to work. Poor David though. :( I feel bad. And I have lost 40 pounds since I had her!! Pretty good considering I had only gained 1 1/2 pounds being pregnant with her. Now, alot of that was due to me not eating much the first few weeks because of the post pardom. And my Mom said about cutting out the soda, or I would put it back on. So, I have been trying to only drink 1 soda a day, or none at all. I have stuck to that for over a week now so far! We are Mt. Dew freaks! So, hopefully I can keep it up!! I wanna lose more! David is very proud of me! ;)

She is getting so big. I will be curious to see what she weighs on Friday at her Doctor's appt. When she is awake she is so alert. She watches her mobile in her swing. She is starting to smile a little when she's awake also, not just when she's sleeping and dreaming. Her eyes are turning more blue, so hopefully she keeps the blue eyes! She does not like her arms covered up. If we cover her, or swaddle her she will always find a way to get her arms out.

I have been cautiously starting sleeping her on her tummy at night. So far, she is still in our room in the pack n play. I keep telling David we're gonna move her to her room and slept in her crib, but I just can't do it yet. But, I know they tell you NOT to sleep them on their tummies, but she sleeps so much better! She doesn't startle herself and wake herself up that way. I may just invest in something called an Angelcare Monitor. It's a little expensive, but I think it may give me piece of mind to put her in her room. It senses her breathing/movement and will sound an alarm on the monitors if she stops breathing for 20 seconds! I just really wonder if it works, and if it does I may be able to sleep a little better once she goes to her room. Anyone ever heard of these or used these? Does it work?? I am very curious!

Just an update on how things are going. I am doing much better. It's not easy, but I'm getting through. She's doing good. She cranks up every now and again and nothing seems to console her. She has had two pretty good nights in a row. We are trying our best to get her sleeping through the night because when I go back to work it will be hard if we don't. With me always working crazy overtime we have got to get her sleeping longer through the night. Last night we fed her at 9pm, down by 9:40pm. She went right to sleep (thankfully!!) and she was up at 2:00am to eat, but then she was up again for a 5:00am feeding before David leaves for work. But hopefully between the 9pm feeding and the next one we really hope she could push through longer. She's been eating anywhere from 2-4oz, just depends. But at least she is sleeping at all! We are really exhausted.

It has been a big adjustment to our family. I think for me, that might be one of the biggest hurdles. I am trying to find my new "normal" with David AND Kaylynn. It seems like as soon as he gets home, it's time to go to bed and for him to leave again! But, I'll figure it out. It's coming, slowly, but I will.

Her 2nd Doc appt. they said she was healthy and to come back in 2 more weeks to get her next Hepatitis shot. Then she'll go back in a month from then and she'll get like 4 or 5 shots. :( Mommy and Daddy are NOT looking forward to that!! The other day her umbilical cord finally fell off so we are able to give her regular baths now!! Yea!! :)

The past 2 weeks....

Well, I finally managed to find a few minutes to update the blog. The past 2 weeks being a Mom have been tough. I have been struggling with post pardom. Turns out from friends and family this is quite common, although I WAS NOT prepared to have it, or deal with it. I just fell apart it seemed. I would cry constantly over nothing really. I didn't really want to deal with her. It was almost like I was afraid of her. I didn't want to be alone with her. I really struggled whe David went back to work after the first week. I would get so wound up I would feel so sick and could not force myself to eat, hence my 36 pound weight loss. And I had only gained 1 1/2 lbs more than I was before I was pregnant with her. So, although I didn't loose it a good way, I would like to keep it off and even loose some more. I just felt so overwhelmed. I just felt like if David was just here I would feel better.
Friends and family once they realized what was happening really stepped up to help. I have been overwhelmed with love and support from everyone. People have been making us meals, stopping by and keeping me occupied or helping with Kaylynn. I JUST NOW am starting to feel ok. Like my sister in law Marianne said, we'll be ok, we just have to find our new "normal." And that is another thing that was and is hard, but getting better, is we have done whatever we wanted for the past 12 years. We've been married for 9 years and it is hard to find a new sense of how it's going to be from here on out. Not bad I guess, just different. It is starting to fall into place, probably will more so when I go back to work Sept 6th when we'll be back to more of a routine.
So, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and help over the past 2 weeks! We truly are Blessed!!

Looking less and less likely that I will go today or tonight, although you never know! But it's looking more like I'll be calling tomorrow morning at 6 am to get a time set to be induced. We are really hoping they say just come in right then! Praying for a quick and easy delivery! Please keep us in your prayers! Thank you! Hopefully next post will be pictures and an arrival notice!! ;)

The Verdict Is In...

Today was my last Doctor's appt. He said I am still at "A good 4 cm" dilated and 80% effaced. He also told me I have what they like to call a "favorable cervix" interesting, huh?! LOL!! So he'd really like to see if I would just go on my own. SO...he is letting me go this weekend yet to see if I will go into labor on my own, if not, then I will be calling the hospital Monday morning at 6am to schedule an induction. He said they may say at 6am, come right in now, or they may say maybe a little later on, but def Monday. So, won't be sure of the time yet if it does happen to be Monday. We will let people know, when we know. Keep praying, as I am still scared people!! :)

40 Weeks and Due Date Has Arrived!

Well. July 6th is here! And as you can see, I am still pregnant! Tomorrow is my Doctor's appt. so we'll see where I'm at and see what days we have picked that I can be induced. Although I am still scared, we are also ready for her to just be here already and I am ready for her to be out. I am getting really uncomfortable. Seems like with me still working full time that by the time I get to the end of the day I have so much pain and pressure in the pelvis area I can barely walk! Can't get comfortable to sleep either. So, PRAY for us as we are any day about to be first time parents. We are nervous, scared, excited and alot of other things!

Happy 4th of July!

This fourth of July weekend was sort of busy. David had to work Friday, then did some electrical work at a friend's house Fri. night. Sat. he worked all day again at his side job. Then Sat. evening we went to my parents for a picnic. I only took one picture of Brooke eating an ice pop. We hung out there quite awhile.

Yesterday we ate dinner at his parents then at 5 we were off for another picnic at Kevin and Dana's house. We stuffed ourselves again and then they did fireworks. And I got ate alive by mosquito's! Today we don't plan on doing to much. Just some things around the house.

Back to work tomorrow I guess, since a certain little girl still hasn't made an appearance yet. 2 days left until my actual due date. My Doctor's appt isn't until Thursday. It seems very far away to me! All I can do is keep taking it one day at a time. Easier said than done.

Doctor's Appt. Update (39 weeks)

Today was my Doctor's appt. Since I didn't go in the 48-72 hours she thought last week! Any who... The update is that the heartbeat was still at 144 BPM. My blood pressure was 132/80, so down even a little from last week. And I had her check me again this week and I am "a good 4cm" dilated and 80% effaced. (was 3 cm and 50% last week) Didn't tell me the station of the head this time. I am assuming the "good 4 cm" means that maybe I'm really close to being 5 cm??

I asked about the contractions and she said they are different for everyone, but if I have anything that is rhythmic, to start timing them! I have had them, but they don't seem to stick around. Today I seem to have alot of pressure now too. I also asked if there is a time frame or a window of time to be able to get the epidural, and she said no. It depends more on your numbers. For instance she said it doesn't just depend on dilation. That and your effacement get taken into account. Good to know!! ;)

So, with that being said. She told me she'd be very surprised if I make it through the weekend. She highly doubts I'll make it to my due date, which is next Wed. July 6th. BUT, if I do, then I need to come to the next appt with a few induction dates in mind so we can evict this little one. So, that's the story for now, we'll keep ya posted!!

Since Wednesday when I saw the midwife not a whole lot has been happening. I have had some real contractions here and there but never close enough to time. I am still losing my mucus plug little by little, so maybe with each bit that does come out that will mean something will start happening?! Of course she said the next 48-72 hours, but the baby does have her own agenda. It's getting frustrating waiting for something to happen. Especially when I work full time. Do I go to work, or don't I? I went yesterday, but decided to stay home today to rest and then get things done around here hoping that would kick start something! But so far, nada. So I guess I shoulda went to work.

I rearranged the closet downstairs. Paid some bills. I've been doing laundry all day, so you would think going up and down the stairs would do it, right?? Here's hoping something starts soon because although I am terrified, I am getting to the point of ok, let's just do this!

Well, had my Doctor's appt today! I had the midwife check to see if I was dilated since I've been leaking a little fluid and having some contractions. And I am 3cm and 50% efaced and her head is at -1. She said we should be having a baby within the next 48-72 hours! She also gave me an approx weight of 8lbs. 8ozs. I asked how she came with that number and she said by feeling her butt! LOL! She said she's felt thousands of butts! And she said she's been right on this week! But if she is off, she usually guesses 1lb over what it'll be or 3oz under. She also said don't be upset if I have to keep my appt next week because she's not here yet, because the baby has her own agenda and didn't bother to share it with her. :) So, we shall see!! Pray for us!!!

Final Preparations

Well, although I haven't finished packing MY bag for the hospital yet. (It's started) We started packing her diaper bag tonight to take along. We just picked out a couple outfits to pack to bring her home in. Since we won't know how big she is, or the weather, we picked out like 3 outfits! :)

David set up her monitor tonight also. Very sensitive! And I got out all the 4 oz. bottles and the nipples and took them downstairs. I boiled and sterilized the nipples and washed the bottles. I got and put the baby food my brother gave me that my niece, Brooke doesn't need anymore away. They gave me 21 jars! They don't expire until 2012 and 2013! Pretty sweet! I did have to clean out some cluttered cupboards to store them. Long overdue anyway.

We also finally got to take a tour of labor and delivery at Geisinger yesterday. Very snazzy place to have a baby!! The rooms are huge! You deliver right there in the room. Showed us around. Answered some questions. They assured me more than once not to be scared or nervous they will take good care of me. Seeing it helped slightly, but I am still really anxious and downright terrified! I just keep praying "Let everything go fast and smooth, without incident. Let her be healthy and just be with us, because I cannot do this without you!!"

Tomorrow is my Doctor's appt. I see the midwife. I am 38 weeks tomorrow also. I think I may have her check to see if I'm dilated at all. I am feeling her getting lower, and feeling a bit of pressure too. Let me tell you, my siatic (sp?) nerve is KILLING me!! I gimp around walking everywhere! 15 days.............if not before!

It may be hard to see, but this milk crate says "Ritchey's Dairy Martinsburg PA" I randomly found this at a antique little hole in the wall in Montgomery. I just had to buy it!! Plus I like stuff like that anyway! Martinsburg is where David and his family is from!! Neat!

On the other side. The rose bushes and butterfly bush also need trimmed! They really grew!

Doctor's Appt. Update

I had my Doctor's appt today. All in all a good report. My blood pressure went down slightly to 134/82 it was 138/90 last Thursday and even higher when Jenn had checked it Saturday. Heartbeat is still around 150 BPM. He actually checked my belly!! Can you believe it?? :) He said she is facing down. But not down real low in the pelvis yet, but she's at least headed in the right direction! He said all my blood work came back ok. He had also tested me for preeclampsia, and it was also negative!! I had a Strep B test done and he asked if I wanted him to check to see if I was dilated. I said, no I think I'll pass today. I see the midwife next week. Maybe I'll let her do it, maybe she's more gentle. He's a little rough. So tomorrow I am 37 weeks! Won't be long now!! I called the hospital to get a tour, they said we can, just gotta call ahead to make sure their not busy. They couldn't have us Monday night, to busy. Couldn't go tonight and can't tomorrow, so HOPEFULLY we can Thursday night!

Here are some pictures of me at 36 weeks 4 days. Blood pressure is still up when Jenn checked it last night so not sure what the Doctor is going to say or do on Tuesday when I go back. :/ There are also some pictures of the ALMOST complete nursery.

Dog days of pregnancy

Yesterday was my Doctor's appt. And now my blood pressure is starting to go up. It's been really good until yesterday. It was 138/90. He talked to me about preeclampsia. He even had them check it 3 times, but it stayed the same. I got bloodwork done, all came back ok. My protein has also been ok, so he wants me back on Tuesday. He said he wants to keep a close eye on my BP.

Since he doesn't really do much when I go, I questioned it. I asked why he has never measured my belly. Not in these words, but he more or less said some Doctors do, but he doesn't because he can tell by looking at it! There are so many things he has not done yet that people keep telling me he should have by now. He's not measured my belly. He has not ever "felt" my belly to check her position. I have not had a strep test done yet and lots of other stuff it seems! So, guess I'll let ya know how I make out on Tuesday.

I think she has started to drop. I've been having braxton hicks contractions for one thing. Plus my lower belly/abdomen hurts and almost feels like alot of pressure there. There are times when I stand up from sitting, I feel like I can't stand up straight because it hurts. I told him about it, but he didn't seem concerned so....like I said, guess I'll let everyone know what happens on Tuesday!

30 Days and counting....

Looking at the date we officially have 30 days until Miss Kaylynn arrives. If she come on the exact due date they gave us that is. On Wednesday I will be 36 weeks along. So to think that possibly in 30 days she'll be here! It's so surreal that it is that close!! We have been working hard at getting everything ready here at the house. I think we have everything we need, besides the formula since we don't know what she'll be on. Everything is washed, put away, set up and ready to go. I need to pack my bag for the hospital yet, but that's about it.

I have a Doctor's appt on Thursday and now I should be going every week now. Although, I have not been impressed with my Doctor. He's nice, but he doesn't really check anything. He has yet to measure my belly, feel my belly for her position or anything else. So not to sure what he learns from me going to see him. All I have ever done is the following ; Weigh in, urine sample, blood pressure checked, listen to her heartbeat. That's it. Every time.

Well, if I remember I'll have David take a picture of me on Wednesday at 36 weeks.

Mother/Daughter Banquet

For the past 4 years the New Columbia God's Missionary Church where David's parents attend they have had a Mother/Daughter Banquet. This year with Mom not always feeling well, plus her and my family were planning my baby shower a few days later at her house, we were not going to go. But when we found out that we kind of "needed" to go, she had some coaxing and we went. This year they had it buffet style with lasagnas and salad.

They let us know for the first time they were going to name a Mother of the Year, and it was unanimously her. The Pastor's wife had got ahold of all of the kids to write her a letter and David was to read them all in front of everyone. So after we ate Sister Ellison went up and spoke about why they chose her and here came David. She was shocked that he was there. He went up and read all the letters to her. He was so nervous to do it, but he did really good! He only got choked up a couple of times. :) They gave her flowers also. Aunt MaryLou also went up and spoke a few words too. We videotaped it, but not sure how to get that transferred so everyone can watch it though. So, here are a few pictures from the banquet.

9 Years Ago Today....

9 years ago I walked down the aisle and said "I do" to my best friend, David. We have come so far since then. So much has taken place. So many ups and downs. But no body I'd rather share my life with than him. We have built and made ourselves a home, and now getting ready for our first baby girl in July. We'll be starting the next chapter of our family. Happy Anniversary Babe!

Gifts from my Surprise Work Baby Shower

Thursday after work a couple of the girls had planned for me a Surprise Baby Shower at a restaurant called Haywood's on the Water. There was alot of people there! We got alot of nice things, they had cake and party favors and we ordered and ate food there. We also got gift cards. It was really nice! Here are the pics of the goodies we received.

Glucose Test

Well, I had the long awaited and dreaded glucose test on Monday. It actually was not as bad tasting as I expected. It was orange flavored and tasted like Kool-aid which I don't care for, but it wasn't horrible. Anyway, he told me I needed to stay below 130 to pass and if I did pass they wouldn't call. With mygeisinger.org you can check things like your lab results on there so I asked if I would still be able to check just to see what the actual levels were. He told me it should show on there by the next evening. Well, as of this evening, still not there and no call. So, the curiosity got the better of me I emailed the Doctor about it. Within 1 hour the LPN wrote back and said I passed!!! That it was normal being at 103 and the normal range is between 70-129!! Woo! I am so glad! No 3 hour glucose test for me!!

New TV

Yesterday, after David came back empty handed from the Amish Auction we decided to venture out in the pouring rain to try to find a desk. With no such luck. They had roll top solid oak desks at the auction that went for $1125, ans $975 and he thought that was outrageous! LOL, well, hate to say it, but those were good prices!! We went to a furniture store and they had a 36" roll top desk that was $999!! So, now he is kicking himself that he didn't bid. So, he is bound and determined that at the Fall auction that we are going to wait and get one then. (Hopefully) So, anyway in our travels we ended up getting a new TV stand and a 46" Samsung LCD flat screen tv! It is really nice! The old set up went over to the playroom for the kiddos. Working in the Garage

David has been working a side job so all the money he's been making there has been going into finishing the garage and eventually the basement. So, he started finishing the back wall first. He had got a finished counter top left over from a job site he can put up and run along the back, so then we can really start cleaning the garage out!! We have alot of junk just piled and laying everywhere. So, here is the progress of that. Looks better already! Even insulated it.

Mom and Dad's 25th Wedding Anniversary Party

Yesterday we finally had my Mom and Dad's 25th Wedding Anniversary party at our home. I love throwing parties, but being 6 months pregnant proved to be even more of a task, BUT it turned out really nice!! I think there were 33 people that came to celebrate. My Aunt Gina, my sister Jamie and I put this together. I think everyone had alot of fun. It was nice to see everyone too. I had to work mandatory 7 hours this weekend and I did NOT want to work Sunday. I wanted a relax day. So, I decided to work from 2-9am yesterday BEFORE the party! Jamie came Friday night to help me prep food and David worked on finishing cleaning. Got up at 12:30am and went til 9:30pm last night. But today I am so glad I bit the bullet and got it done and over with, because I am doing nothing today!! :) Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!! (It actually isn't until April 25th) Gram and Beth.

26 1/2 weeks pregnant

Well, I haven't taken many, but since it was nice out this afternoon I asked David to take a couple pictures of the baby bump. On Wednesday I'll be 27 weeks. On April 18th I go for my first glucose test. Hoping I pass so I don't have to go through the longer one. Been feeling ok I guess. Just can't sleep much. I just can't seem to get comfy. I had bought a body pillow, but it takes up to much room in our bed. This week is going to be so busy!! We actually had to make a schedule for the whole week so we know what we're doing, where we're going, what we need to do, etc.! I know Friday I will be picking up the paint for the nursery from Sherwin Williams. The color is a light, pretty green color called Honeydew. It matches the bedding really nicely. There are so many things happening in the next couple of months. This Sat. we're throwing my parents their 25th Wedding Anniversary party (it was supposed to be a surprise, but ended up having to tell them), Jay and Tonya's family is coming in for a short visit at the end of this month, my niece Brooke's 1st birthday is coming up very soon, my baby shower in May, the very day after that is our friend's daughter's 3rd birthday party, then at the end of May is my Aunt's Wedding reception!! In the meantime we have a million things that need done before Kaylynn gets here!

4D ultrasound pictures

On Monday we had our 4D ultrasound. It was really neat. She definitely looks like David. At least she has his nose and upper lip. She kept her hands moving up by her mouth and was trying to suck her hand and her thumb. Didn't look like she had it quite figured out yet. These are a little blurry because they are pics of the u/s pics. We also got a 15 min DVD which shows her moving around. We got to take people along to watch, so we brought my Mom, his Mom, and both of my sisters. He also double confirmed that she is definitely a girl!! These are just some of the pics.

Here are a couple of things we got in the last couple of days. I ordered the crib bedding last week and it arrived yesterday. I haven't actually oped it up yet but from what I can see we really like it! We are going to paint the room a light shade of green called Honeydew. The others are a couple outfits I picked up at Target because they were just to cute! Now I need to refrain from buying much of anything else!!

Well, things are slowly coming together. A few weeks ago Marianne, Philip and the boys came in for a week and they brought in the crib, mattress, and changing table with them. And she even put them together for us!! So these are just pics of them put up in the nursery. Nothing has been done up there yet. We did order the bedding and should be here Tuesday, then we can pick the paint color. I will get pics of the bedding once it comes. We did register at Target and Wal-mart last Sat. also. So, here are some pics of the baby gear we have.

Also one good thing about last night's visit to the ER I had to get an ultrasound. I teased the girl about taking a sneak peak to see what gender the baby was. She told us she couldn't because she could lose her job. BUT, at one point she said "I just accidentally happened to see this, accidentally, and uh, well, it's a GIRL!!" She showed us 4 or 5 pics and there is no question, it's a GIRL!! Yippee!! She told us if we told anyone in the ER she would hunt us down because she could get into alot of trouble. But it was very nice of her to do that for us!!

So, Kaylynn Renee it is!! ;)

Hydronephrosis, oh my.

Yesterday I ended up having pretty bad pain on the right side of my back. As the day progressed, the worse it felt. I took Tylenol as soon as I got off work and got to my car. When I got home I tried to lay down, it wasn't helping. I called Jenn, David's sister that's a nurse to get her opinion, she said go to the ER because it sounded like kidney infection. So, I called the on call nurse and they kinda thought the same thing so she told me to go to the ER also. So, we did. We went to Geisinger ER, we went back fairly quickly. They did a urine test, blood work then took me for an ultrasound of my kidneys. It seemed like it took forever! But it ended up being this hydronephrosis. Fluid around my kidney and it's slightly enlarged all due to being pregnant. They sent me on my way with percoset. So I took one right away.

Well, we ate then went to bed. Well, needless to say all the percoset did was make me sick and ended up getting sick all night, bad!! The pain was so bad I never slept a wink. No matter what I did or how I tried, it hurt! So I called off work and called my OB Doc and told them what's going on so I'm waiting for them to call me back. I took more Tylenol and it seems to be helping right now. Praying this doesn't happen again! :(

Old Wives Tales

Does anyone have any "old wives tales" for eating/drinking anything to get your baby to move around so you can determine gender? Well, Mt. Dew didn't work at 20 weeks. (hee, hee! It was moving everything else but it wasn't uncrossing those legs!) Just trying to do everything we can do so it'll show us boy or girl when we go March 21st for a 4d ultrasound!
